Notes | He was born on 23rd August 1871 at Faversham and was the son of Percy Beale Neame and Florence née Neame, brewer of Faversham. He was educated at Albion House, Cliftonville, Margate and Harrow and played cricket for the school. On leaving school he entered the family brewery firm and at the time of his death was a co-director of Shepherds Neame Brewery with his brothers Percy and Alick. He joined the 1st. Kent, Royal Garrison Artillery Volunteers as 2nd Lieutenant in 1895, promoted Lieutenant 1896, Captain 1900. He retired from the Volunteers in 1904. In October 1914 he re-enlisted into 2nd Kent Heavy Duty Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery, Ightham in the rank of Major. He died at the Bower House, Rectory Lane, Ightham of Pneumonia aged 44 Memorial: St Peter and St Paul Churchyard, Ospringe, Kent WO374/50104 |
